BACKGROUND.❝ GROWING UP IN GOLMORE, he led a traditional viera life for 11 summers before the invasion of Dalmasca spilled over the bordering jungle. Trying to stop his brother from willingly joining the Garlean forces, Kóri saw himself captured alongside his kin, who didn't seem all too worried by the predicament. As both got shipped to the coldest regions of Ilsalbard and forcibly conscripted, Kóri served and lived under imperial scrutiny for 8 years before his eventual rescue.❝ A NOT SO-SMOOTH RESCUE, as the first attempt was swiftly shot down by the army, leaving both Kóri and his rescuers to suffer the consequences of defection. The boy had already given up on any possibility of walking out alive before a successful second rescue attempt took place, eventually leading him all the way to the neutral territory of Kugane. Kóri, now under the alias Iris Black, led the next years as a common man working at a shrine to Tamamo, where he received help to get rid of his scars – both physical and mental.

❝ NEVER FULLY HEALED, however, the boy eventually decided he needed to get as far, far away to Eorzea and start a new life. Using the skills he learned during his time in the army, Iris joined the adventurers guild in Kugane, moving to Ul'dah after a few moons passed. As any new adventurer, he was nothing more than a glorified errand runner for a long time before his skills got recognized. From working as a sellsword for the high houses of Ishgard to fighting alongside the Ala Mhigo resistance, Iris would go wherever there was work to be done and soldiers to be killed.❝ NOWADAYS, with the threat of the Empire gone, the viera is looking to find new purpose in his life. He has never really settled down, still traveling around Eorzea and working whenever opportunity arises.

Iris was conscripted soon after Dalmasca fell and forced to serve on the 1st legion for 8 years before his eventual rescue, Garleans and other conscripts that served under the same legion might recognize him as the odd viera that rarely spoke but was always up to fight.໒ AETHERSENSE >
Although not strong and not always applied, Iris has the ability to see aether through his right eye. He might notice any prominent details in your character's aether. As for his own - it's almost pitch black, much like a shadow.໒ SHRINE WORKER >
After his rescue, Iris was left under the care of a small Yanxian shrine in Kugane. Eventually, he started working for them, helping out with any tasks. Those familiar with the Kami or Auspices might catch the boy's attention.໒ RESISTANCE >
Having fought alongside the Ala Mhigan resistance, any characters that share this past could know of him and his relentlessness.

After moving to Ul'dah, Iris continued his work as an adventurer. Any characters from the guild might have seen him before, or worked on a job together.໒ BLOODSANDS >
In the past, the rava has seeked out the gladiator's guild for training. Looking to earn more alongside his adventurer work, he did not pass any opportunities to compete on the Coliseum. Gamblers, Ul'dah residents and other gladiators or sellswords alike that are familiar with the Coliseum might have watched a match or two of his - perhaps event placed a bet in favor or against him.໒ A DARK KNIGHT >
"Converted" during his time in Ishgard as a sellsword for the Oschon Raiders serving the House Fortemps. Those who follow the path of the forbidden might recognize an ally in him.໒ SELLSWORD >

Iris is my WoL in my own headcanon, although I do not RP him as a WoL. Yes, this is an edgy boy. Iris is fairly skilled in combat due to his age and backstory but I will not write him as an overpowered character, you have nothing to fear. This is also a strictly slow-burn character, being it in regards to friendship or romance.
